Arizona Firearms Training
The FBI Uniform Crime statistics show that for the year 2005, the
latest year for which full statistics are available, 417,122 citizens were
robbed, 93,934 citizens were raped and 862,947 were assaulted. A
study of U.S. Department of Justice data by Dr. Gary Kleck, a
criminologist at Florida State University, and published in his 1995
book Targeting Guns, showed that of the responses of victims when
they were attacked that using a firearm in response to robberies and
assaults was least likely to result in harm to the victim. This
includes those that offered no resistance and complied with the
criminal’s demands or tried to run away. Dr. Kleck notes that
those who used a gun and were injured includes those that were
harmed BEFORE they used a gun. He estimated that only 6% were
injured AFTER they used their gun.
The United States Judicial system has ruled multiple times that the
citizens of this country do not have a constitutional right to being
protected by the state. One U.S. Appeals court boldly proclaimed
that “there is no constitutional right to be protected by the
state against being murdered by criminals or madmen.” (7th
Circuit, 1982, Bowers v. DeVito).
Taking training in self-defense is no
different than taking training in first-aid – when someone is
injured, pressure is applied to a wound until professional medical
help arrives. When someone is criminally attacked, defending
yourself until professional help arrives is no different. Protecting
yourself and your loved ones is the “first-aid” in
response to criminal attacks.
If you are attacked, will you be able to use
“first-aid?”
